Don't get a VA
Not all sales conversations turn to gold.
In fact 40% of mine do not.
Not everyone should get a Virtual Assistant.
Sometimes it is because they are not in a place to support the Virtual Assistant to be successful but sometimes it is because it does not make financial sense.
Take one of our leads that was referred to us. Let’s call her Carly.
Carly owns a massage studio and she was referred to us to get someone to help her with her social media.
Carly was lovely, she showed me around her massage studio (on zoom) and told me about cool things that I had never heard before (like somatic movement)…
But when I got down to her business model and what she wanted support with specifically, I said to her:

You see Carly, was a solo provider direct to the client (with a low deal value).
She was not looking to leverage her business in any way.
And as such would never make the money back per month that she would have invested in a Virtual Assistant.
Further to that she went on to tell me that what she really wanted support with was knowing what to post and how to post it on social media (she was 60 odd and not tech savvy).
So instead of selling her a Virtual Assistant (that she never would have got a ROI on), I shared with her the sort of content that I thought her audience would love.
We spoke about her fear and I shared with her that it was completely normal and supported her to see that by not doing it she would not be serving her audience as she wanted.
And to top it off I helped her identify someone in her life to show her how to get that video she just recorded onto facebook.
She was feeling excited (and scared) and on a mission to share her wisdom with her audience on facebook (and get more bookings).
She offered to pay me for my time (which I declined).
So instead, she offered to give me a massage next time I am near her studio (which I might just do).
Although many businesses can benefit greatly from getting support from a Virtual Assistant, not all of them do.
When I talk to someone I suss out their business model and help them assess their ROI.
It needs to make sense to the bottom line.
That is the only way it will work in the long term.
P.S. Do you want to work out once and for all if you should or shouldn’t get a VA, then I am happy to have a chat and help you work it out. Book a time here.
